MISSION STATEMENT:
Our goal is to maintain an informative,
easily accessible and fun Internet experience for the Gay and
Lesbian community.
THE INTERNET - THE FUTURE IS NOW!
We are now living in the future. What was
once thought to only exist on a Saturday morning cartoon, "The
Jetsons," is now reality. Television was born over 40 years
ago and introduced as a modern forum for entertainment and
news media, and only 15 years ago cable wore that same honor.
Technology has come a long way.
As we enter the twenty-first century, the
Internet is changing our lifestyles daily. We are able to
instantly access volumes of information that were once only
available at your local library. We can also view news updates
immediately, instead of waiting for our favorite news programs
or tomorrow’s newspaper. The Internet is more than a place to
gather information. We now make travel plans at the click of a
mouse, shop in our pajamas, and make new friends from around
the world through e-mail, instant messaging, audio and video
conferencing.
And, yet we’ve only scratched the surface!
What does the Internet hold for us in the future? Unlimited
possibilities: create your own CD -- pick and choose the music
you like without ever going to the store; and if you wish to
see a movie playing at your local theater, but hate the
crowds, then order current features through the Internet and
view them ANYTIME and ANYWHERE.
The future is NOW!
WHO’S SURFING THE WEB?
Business is not just making the target, but
hitting the bull’s eye!
According to Nielsen / CommerceNet, the
majority of Internet users are male, although 42% of the
on-line community is comprised of women.
After six studies, provided by Georgia
Institute of Technology, Graphics, Visualization & Usability
Center (GVC), the average user is 34.9 years old.
Continued studies from GVC, found only
18.8% of users had an income of less than $29K compared to
23.3% having an income between $30-50K. Not surprising, more
than 41.1% of Internet surfers have an income well over $50K.
Although 46% of the U.S. have attended
college, 75% of those surfing the Internet have attended
college.
In other words, the average user is young,
well educated and has a fair amount of disposable income.
Thus, they want to be entertained, informed, and they have a
need to spend their money through purchases, investments and
other fun-loving interests.
INTEGRITY ON THE INTERNET:
RainbowGuide.Com understands that the
Internet can be accessed by individuals of any age.
Ironically, when you perform a search under "gay," you are
barraged by numerous sites that are either sexually explicit
or have questionable material. Other sites may appear to be
similar to RainbowGuide.Com, however, they still contain
erotic or adult themed material which can be viewed by any
user. Thus, our goal is to maintain a site where both users
and advertisers are comfortable and not embarrassed with the
content.
WHY RAINBOWGUIDE.COM?
The average gay and lesbian individual is
an essential part of society. They have a steady income, love
to be entertained, travel, and they have a smart sense of how
they want to spend their money in an advantageous manner.
RainbowGuide.Com provides an alternative guide in obtaining
information through the "net." Thus, RainbowGuide.Com
downloaded it’s first version of it’s site on February 15,
1999.
The listings showcased within
RainbowGuide.Com are either gay or gay friendly businesses.
Since our site is ever-growing and
ever-changing, both major cities and minor communities will be
added every week or so, always striving to be fresh,
above-the-line and nonpareil.
